Bachelor in Health Administration

The health care industry is a complex and evolving sphere; tomorrow’s health administrators need not only to understand its complexities but to be able to lead and effect positive change and to demonstrate unquestionable integrity and professional ethics. Although a Master’s Degree is required for most senior health administration positions in large facilities, many entry level positions are open to those with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration. Alternatively, taking this Bachelor’s Degree will give you a solid foundation for further study.

Graduates from a Health Administration degree typically find work at supervisory levels in hospitals, clinics, care facilities, public health organizations or medical offices, perhaps as clinical data specialists, physician’s administrator, medical sales or purchase manager or as a staff member in a government agency. During your Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration, you will gain a solid core of business knowledge, including finance, accounting, leadership, marketing and organizational practice. Additionally, you will study health care regulation and compliance, medial ethics and law, and the latest principles of health care delivery and how they apply to the modern world.

Bachelor’s Degrees in Health Administration often off both a clinical and non clinical track, suiting both those who are already licensed health care professionals and those who are not. Many programs also offer a degree of specialization, with concentrations available in environmental science, physical education, social services, speech therapy, long term care management, health care marketing and emergency management. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job opportunities for health administrators and managers will grow by 16% from 2008 to 2018, and that the best prospects will be enjoyed by those with a Bachelor’s Degree or higher and with strong fundamental business skills.
